The Annual 7 Mile Bridge Run began in 1982 as a celebration of the new 7 mile bridge opening. It is the only known run that is surrounded by water from start to finish! Officially marked at 6.8 miles, runners start at one end of the bridge and have 90 minutes to reach the other side. Those who cannot keep up are picked up one by one by local school buses to allow the bridge to reopen. Money raised for this event is donated to local youth of the Middle Keys. A pasta dinner is available for purchase the day before the run at the Tarpon Creek Restaurant so help runners fuel up!
