For the best of Caribbean and Latino cuisine, don’t miss Bien Restaurant. This take out hot-spot offers a large menu to please every palate – including several vegetarian and gluten free options. Pick your level of spiciness at the counter, and relax in the quaint, shaded area while it’s made specially for you. Our top pick? The fire roasted corn-on-the-cob topped with aioli, Parmesan cheese and spices.

The Cafe

Serving lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends
Veggie lovers, eat your heart out. This (mostly) vegetarian restaurant specializes in cooking up meat substitutes from scratch, and nods its head to gluten free and vegan diets as well. The large menu goes everywhere from Middle Eastern falafel to Asian-inspired noodle dishes to Italian pizzas. Don’t miss their Saturday and Sunday brunch for creative menu items under “to egg” or “not to egg” categories. For our mainstream friends, they do serve a handful of fresh, local seafood as well.

Date & Thyme
829 Fleming Street

Formerly known as Help Yourself, Date & Thyme offers a healthful menu of organic options for vegan and meat-eaters alike. Order your freshly made smoothie or juice with your made-from-scratch entree, and enjoy the peaceful and comfortable outdoor seating area. This local’s favorite is tucked into a beautiful Old Town neighborhood, a lovely stroll from Old Town Manor and Rose Lane Villas. Our favorite? The Spicy Tempeh Wrap.

Sugar Apple Cafe & Market
917 Simonton Street

Similar to Date & Thyme, Sugar Apple offers feel-good juices, smoothies and vegan lunch items. Its main attraction is the impressive health food market next door, offering just about anything your healthy heart desires.
