Vegan? Vegetarian? Gluten Free? You will not go hungry in Key West! We’re naming our favorite Key West restaurants for the health conscious.
1000 Eaton Street
For the best of Caribbean and Latino cuisine, don’t miss Bien Restaurant. This take out hot-spot offers a large menu to please every palate – including several vegetarian and gluten free options. Pick your level of spiciness at the counter, and relax in the quaint, shaded area while it’s made specially for you. Our top pick? The fire roasted corn-on-the-cob topped with aioli, Parmesan cheese and spices.
509 Southard Street
Serving lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends
Veggie lovers, eat your heart out. This (mostly) vegetarian restaurant specializes in cooking up meat substitutes from scratch, and nods its head to gluten free and vegan diets as well. The large menu goes everywhere from Middle Eastern falafel to Asian-inspired noodle dishes to Italian pizzas. Don’t miss their Saturday and Sunday brunch for creative menu items under “to egg” or “not to egg” categories. For our mainstream friends, they do serve a handful of fresh, local seafood as well.
Date & Thyme
829 Fleming Street
Serving breakfast, lunch
Formerly known as Help Yourself, Date & Thyme offers a healthful menu of organic options for vegan and meat-eaters alike. Order your freshly made smoothie or juice with your made-from-scratch entree, and enjoy the peaceful and comfortable outdoor seating area. This local’s favorite is tucked into a beautiful Old Town neighborhood, a lovely stroll from Old Town Manor and Rose Lane Villas. Our favorite? The Spicy Tempeh Wrap.
Sugar Apple Cafe & Market
917 Simonton Street
Similar to Date & Thyme, Sugar Apple offers feel-good juices, smoothies and vegan lunch items. Its main attraction is the impressive health food market next door, offering just about anything your healthy heart desires.
900 Southard Street
Mangia Mangia Pasta Cafe serves your favorite Italian dishes with respect for the vegetarian, gluten free and health conscious. Here you’ll choose between the homemade traditional, whole-wheat, gluten free rice pasta or gluten free quinoa pasta. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, and the wine list is 41 pages long!
729 Thomas Street
Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner
This iconic Key West hot-spot features live music and outdoor seating in it’s shaded backyard. Bring your dog, but beware of the friendly cats and chickens roaming around the restaurant. A true “must-experience” in Key West, Blue Heaven made our list of the best dog-friendly Key West restaurants!
Bad Boy Burrito
1128 Simonton Street
Serving lunch, dinner
For hearty take-out or delivery, look no further than Bad Boy Burrito’s eclectic menu of seasoned tofu, fresh seafood and meats. As seen on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, order your burrito at the window, located within the Bottle Cap Bar.
Guests of Old Town Manor enjoy a complimentary breakfast each morning in our historic gardens. We serve hickory smoked salmon, crispy bacon, a variety of artisanal cheeses, organic, free-range hard boiled eggs, as well as organic Nature’s Path gluten free cereal. For vegan diets, we offer almond milk and freshly baked whole wheat bread from the local’s favorite bakery, Goldman’s. In our homestyle kitchen, you’ll always find a big bowl of fresh fruit and plenty of good coffee.
